The Low Line
Free walking route along London's oldest railway viaduct. Street art, independent shops in the arches, and food markets along the way.
The Low Line is a walking route that follows the Victorian railway viaduct from Elephant & Castle through to Bankside and London Bridge. About three kilometres, mostly flat, entirely free. Inspired by New York’s High Line, but at ground level and without the queues.
The arches along the route have been brought back to life with independent shops, studios, street art, and food vendors. Key stops include Borough Market, Maltby Street Market, and Spa Terminus. You can download an audio tour from the Low Line website with specially commissioned music tracks.
Start at Elephant & Castle and walk north, or pick it up anywhere along the viaduct. No booking, no opening hours, no ticket. Just walk.
