NEW BUS. 367,000 TRIPS.

The BL1 “Bakerloop” express bus started running in late September 2025. The route: Waterloo through Elephant & Castle to Lewisham via Old Kent Road and New Cross Gate. It traces the path of the proposed Bakerloo line extension that TfL cannot currently afford to build.

In its first 10 weeks the service carried 367,000 passengers and took in GBP 231,000. Buses run every 12 minutes, Monday to Saturday, from 5am to half past midnight.

Old Kent Road has waited decades for better public transport. The Bakerloo extension keeps getting pushed back. This is the interim answer: a bus that runs the same route, frequently enough to be useful.
